It has remnants of an old sticker on the top and there is quite a bit of wear, mainly in the corners. The case is not in the best shape, as you can see from the photos. This comes with the rod and original case. The head joint has about 4-5 very tiny dents in it near the top. The pads and corks may need to be replaced. It has some general surface scratches from use and such, but you could have it overhauled and buffed if you wanted.
Overall, the flute is in pretty good condition given its age.
All the keys and springs seem to be moving fine and working properly. It has "Sterling" stamped into the side of one arm and under the rim of the foot joint. Reg Trade Mark," as well as the serial number. At the top of the body joint, it reads, "The Haynes Flute MFD By WM. I don't know much about instruments, so I don't know much more than that. They said this was originally sold on September 13, 1946!! They also said this model is what they call a "regular" or "commercial" flute. I called the Haynes Co and verified the serial number.
